ARE YOU GETTING THE RESULTS YOU DESIRE?

“Like a dog that returns to its vomit, is a fool who repeats his folly.” Proverbs 26:11

Your life, in its present state, is designed to give you the results you’re presently getting. If you don’t like the outcomes you’re getting, then the system must be changed. Again, your system is perfectly designed to give you the results you’re getting.

If your financial house is in disarray, what needs to change? Continuing to do the same thing will continue to give you the results you’re presently getting. If you’re unhappy with your physical fitness, what needs to change? If you’re in constant conflict with an individual, what needs to change? Your system is perfectly designed to give you the results you’re getting.

Accept responsibility. Resist the “blame game.” It’s always easy to see where someone else is to blame. Often we have “blinders” on. As a result, we have an inability to see our own deficiencies and faults. Ask yourself, “What do I do to contribute to the problem?” Be honest with yourself. What needs to change within YOU?

Let God worry about the other person. After all, that person is God’s responsibility in the first place. God never gave you the right and/or the responsibility to change others. That’s His job. As Neil T. Anderson has said, “The fruit of the Spirit is self-control.”

If you’re married, the fruit of the Spirit is self-control and not spouse-control. Stop trying to change your spouse. That’s not your job. Leave your spouse to God. Your desire to control your spouse says more about you than it does about your spouse.

Most of us, by nature, are control freaks. There’s a reason you and I want to be in control. Why is that? What fear is tapped into when we are “out of control?” Answer that question and you will well be on your way to designing a system that will give you the results you would much rather have.

  • In life, where are you getting results that you desire?
  • How can you celebrate the “wins” in that area?
  • In life, where are you getting results that you don’t desire?
  • What is within your ability to change?
